52 to Fabulous: Week 3

We are now looking at Week 3 of the 52 to Fabulous Challenge.  Previously, I addressed areas of my life that I wanted and needed to improve, including paying more attention to the good things that my kids were doing over the past week.

In regards to that part of the challenge, Ethan and Mary showed me this past week that, while their behavior and attitude needs some tweaking, my OWN behavior is under the microscope and I am no longer able to hide behind my excuses of being too tired (or too frustrated) to love them unconditionally.

Anyhoooooo…

The newest challenge is two-fold:

This week, I’ll be focusing on drinking more water.  I’ve had issue a lot with becoming dehydrated since I left the corporate world last October, and I know it’s because I don’t make drinking water a priority; you and I were both wrong in assuming I’d be more likely to do so since I’m at home all day while the kids are in school.  To combat my laziness, I’m going to make a point of drinking at least 8 ounces of water every two hours to start.  Under-promise and over-deliver!  Hehe.

The next plan of action, that I’ll be taking over the course of the next couple of weeks, is to craft a Vision Board using what I’ve written over the past few weeks; to really keep my thoughts of what I want to do this year, I’ll be taking cues from Christine Kane’s website where she explains how to make a vision board.  (Also, peek at: Vision Boards: A Quick Story.)  I’ll do my best to take some pictures of my progress and display them here at Writing to Sanity.

52 to Fabulous: Week 2

000001261ed85fe82628e556007f000000000001.52 to fab4 graphic 52 to Fabulous: Week 2It’s Week 2 of the 52 to Fabulous Challenge!  Last week, I concentrated on writing down what I really WANT to do this year.  This week, I am establishing what I NEED to do this year and choosing one area from my list last week on which to take action.

I need to use my Household Notebook daily.

I need to follow through with my exercise plan.

I need to drink more water each day.

I need to invest in some really classy heels that will last longer than a few months.

I need to stop being so hard on myself for being friendly with strangers.

I need to find something outside the house that makes me feel like me again.

I need to put a budget in place – and follow it.

I need to pay more attention to the good things that my kids are doing.

I need to eat more sensibly.

I need to take baby steps explained in the FlyLady system to make sure my home is “company ready”.

I need to set up goals for my writing, just as I would anything else in life.

As far as where I plan on taking action, I’ll be paying more attention to the good things that my kids are doing.  I’ll let you know what I find as a result!

52 to Fabulous: Week 1

00000125fa88bba1a83c6816007f000000000001.52 to fab4 graphic 52 to Fabulous: Week 1This is the week I begin participating in 52 to Fabulous, an action plan for improving areas of my life, big or small, in 52 weeks. Thanks to Linney and Cassie, some of the areas we’ll be looking at are: organization, fitness, food, style… and more.

My first “assignment” is to think about what I really want to do this year. I’m to look at the list of monthly Fabulous Topics provided and write down one thing in each month that I would LIKE to change, or LIKE to see happen in my life. The hardest part for me in compiling this list was narrowing it all down to just one thing, so tried to choose the one thing that was most important to me TODAY.

I want to use my Household Notebook daily.

I want to follow through with my exercise plan.

I want to drink more water each day.

I want to invest in some really classy heels that will last longer than a few months.

I want to spend more time exploring New Jersey.

I want to learn how to use my camera more efficiently.

I want to spend less time stressing about money.

I want to pay more attention to the good things that my kids are doing.

I want to eat more sensibly.

I want to take baby steps explained in the FlyLady system to make sure my home is “company ready”.

I want to “find myself” as a writer/blogger.

All that being said, my top three priorities right now are (in no specific order): utilizing my household notebook, following through with my exercise plan, and paying more attention to the good things that my kids are doing.
